Northern New Mexico - Fly Fishing in Eagle's Nest Wednesday, hiking in Taos Ski Valley Tuesday, Santa Fe all day today, fine dining tonight with the old lady tonight while the folks watched the boys. Temps in the low 80s for highs, staying in a 3200 sq ft, million dollar home. Damn. Don't want to come back.

One thing I regret now is staying in Albuquerque for the A&M/New Mexico game a couple years ago. Santa Fe is fucking badass.

I've spent a lot of time in that area. There used to be an old guy that sold btubaplayingfag at the grocery store in Angel Fire that was actually pretty good.

I know that place, the Valley Mart in Angel Fire. Good b b q.

Bohunk, if you get a chance, eat at the Rancho de Chimayo resturant in Chimayo. Also try The Shed in Santa Fe.

My favorite restaurant is Orlando's in Taos. GREAT blue corn chicken enchiladas.

Damn, I love Northern NM. It's Colorado without the Colorado assholes.

I'm friends with a family that has a 4000 sq. ft home in Angel Fire. All I have to do is ask and they throw me the keys. Place is heaven.

I haven't been able to go for a couple of years now, but this is the absolute best time to go. It's boiling in Texas but you're sleeping with the windows open at night in Angel Fire.

Today we went to Red River. Damn, I may have to go back to that place once my boys get older. That's a pretty sweet ass town.
HeyMoe
Red River is cool, although it's more like the kind of mountain towns you find in Colorado.

There are TONS of Texans who own land up there in that Angel Fire - Red River area.

If you get a chance, stop by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Angel Fire. The kids may be bored but it's quite moving.

Where do you go from here?

Without a doubt, check out that Nam Memorial.

NM is a bad ass state. A lot of BMF's come from there as well.

Texas Reds in Red River is pretty good

I thought that place burned down.
HeyMoe
also check out the Atomic Museum in los alamos

Back home tomorrow unfortunately. Ate Orlandos tonight on Moes recommendation. Damn good. Had lunch in the state park in Eagles Nest today. Really nice.

Found out the house we are in is on the market for 750k. Fucking nice pad.

Very impressed with this area of NM. Lots of liberal artsy fartsy fucks but I can stand them in small doses and the ones here aren't overly annoying like in California

Missed the Vietnam Memorial although we drove past it. We had the kids and my folks in the car today because we drive the Enchanted Circle which was great.

Wouldve gone to it by myself although I did take the 2 1/2 year old through the Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe yesterday. Did pretty well. Laughed my ass off because he wanted to put quarters in the wagon they had.

One of the things that's weird about Angel Fire is how the place shuts down in the evening. There are NO fast food places in town and what restaurants there are close between the summer and ski seasons (my favorite time to go actually) and even during the summer, shut down early. There was one B B Q -burger place in town that opened when the owner felt like it.......if there was a good movie on tv that night, he'd close early.

We went up to Taos Ski Valley on Tuesday thinking we'd get lunch up there....first two places we tried were closed. Found a bar with pretty good food that seemed to be the only place open up there. A little odd.

a cousin of mine that lives in Spearman, TX owns a place in Red River. love it there. absolutely gorgeous.
