had a pretty interesting conversation with an official pretty high up at a big XII north school.
nothing earth shattering, but actually hearing it from someone pretty much confirms all our suspicions.
long short of it, the contracts have not been renegotiated. right now they expect UT and OU to get their way to $20m under the old TV revenue rules from the existing big XII contract...only a&m is "expected" to not make their way to the $20m at which point the schools from the "fab 5" (no sh**, that's what they call themselves) will subsidize a&m.
the schools right now are looking to basically kick a&m's ass on the PR side of things by making the ags look like shitheads/wannabes for wanting what was guaranteed to them. this can and most likely will go to the political route if a&m presses for the money. Its expected that a&m will fold under pressure and most likely fall around maybe a little above tech in the money.
a&m administration got absolutely donkey f***ed in this deal. its only going to get worse for them. i'm just hoping we have the nuts to get the f out of this conference in the next go-round.

about what I expected...and par for the course for A&M.

Not surprised one bit. I wish this could be discussed on TA, but the mods have taken sides and want no further discussion.

I dunno. Seems like we could simply say "we were promised 20 mil a year if we stayed here and didn't go SEC." "We decided to stay, and now the conference is cheating us." "Tell ya what "Fab 5", we'll go SEC and you won't owe us a dime. How bout it?"

i used to think that optimistically, but now i really think we can't do jack shit without significant political repercussions [ie despite having another option, we effectively have no option].

i've found Dan Beebe's Halloween costume for this year.

This is another example of how A&M needs a PR dept. We need to have a response ready to go if the "Fab 5" or anyone else tries to fit us for the black hat.
But we won't. The only organization more tone deaf than us to this sort of thing is the Republican Party.

Yep, you nailed it.
I'm starting to suspect though that we may not get quite the black eye over this that we fear. Depends on how we play it of course, I thought Loftin's statement yesterday was just right. Stick to the facts, what we were promised and don't get emotional over it. I think the public will understand if we do that.

What's the deal, y'all aren't getting your money?
..I can't see these mysterious boards.
Who the fuck are the "Fab 5"?

Beebe confirmed today that the Big 12 will make good on their promise to pay us our money.
This could all be so easily solved if we'd just do away with the exclusivity windows. If we're all on TV every week, the guaranteed money wouldn't be such an issue. We'd all be on and getting paid for it. However, with the TV deal the way it is, it doesn't allow for everyone to be on TV. The sips and sooners love it because they're on TV every week, which eats up 2 spots, so there's usually only a spot or 2 left for everyone else to be on. It keeps them on and everyone else off. It's bullshit, because you get slaughters like tu vs. isu or baylor vs. ou instead of a game that might actually be competitive.

There's a better chance of patch posting for a day without a single troll.
