TV Money

nothing earth shattering, but actually hearing it from someone pretty much confirms all our suspicions.
long short of it, the contracts have not been renegotiated. right now they expect UT and OU to get their way to $20m under the old TV revenue rules from the existing big XII contract...only a&m is "expected" to not make their way to the $20m at which point the schools from the "fab 5" (no sh**, that's what they call themselves) will subsidize a&m.
the schools right now are looking to basically kick a&m's ass on the PR side of things by making the ags look like shitheads/wannabes for wanting what was guaranteed to them. this can and most likely will go to the political route if a&m presses for the money. Its expected that a&m will fold under pressure and most likely fall around maybe a little above tech in the money.
a&m administration got absolutely donkey f***ed in this deal. its only going to get worse for them. i'm just hoping we have the nuts to get the f out of this conference in the next go-round.

But we won't. The only organization more tone deaf than us to this sort of thing is the Republican Party.

I'm starting to suspect though that we may not get quite the black eye over this that we fear. Depends on how we play it of course, I thought Loftin's statement yesterday was just right. Stick to the facts, what we were promised and don't get emotional over it. I think the public will understand if we do that.

This could all be so easily solved if we'd just do away with the exclusivity windows. If we're all on TV every week, the guaranteed money wouldn't be such an issue. We'd all be on and getting paid for it. However, with the TV deal the way it is, it doesn't allow for everyone to be on TV. The sips and sooners love it because they're on TV every week, which eats up 2 spots, so there's usually only a spot or 2 left for everyone else to be on. It keeps them on and everyone else off. It's bullshit, because you get slaughters like tu vs. isu or baylor vs. ou instead of a game that might actually be competitive.

This is the most logical thing I've ever seen you post.

There's a better chance of patch posting for a day without a single troll.
