I wish I could have seen Beebe's face as he explained this.

Us...."Dan, good job, when do we start getting our cut and what channel are going to be on?"

Dan..."Yeah, about that, that was more of a guideline that a rule...I'm still workin' on it though, I'm your guy....right?"

Us..."Did we write this deal on a cocktail napkin"?

This has to be borderline fraudulent, doesn't it?

I'd like to see Joe Jamail put this prick on the stand and wear him the fuck out for most of the afternoon.

Start with "how do you explain keeping a paycheck for all of these years?"

I have hated Dan Beebe since his first day on the job. He has been worthless.

This whole thing has basically come about because the Big XII has a worse TV deal than the Dallas YMCA bowling league. Beebe is just trying to save his ass now that he's been backed into a corner.

All I can say at this point is that we (Texas) can retire the "We are the Jones es" bull shit.

What came out of this deal in stark relief is that the television networks are the shot callas and we are all in their world.

Nobody got what they wanted here but ESPN, ABC and CBS.

EVERYONE else involved is and should be disappointed.

I agree.

I really think at this point both A&M and Texas face damn near insurmountable issues right now.

* We think we can go where we want. We can't. The combination of politics, money, tv issues and various emotional issues make it impossible for us to leave. If either of us try to leave it ignites a shitstorm that gets felt all over the country. It's not like we're Boise State moving to the MW.

* I think we have to resign ourselves to staying in the Big 12. Both of us. To that end we should work to make this conference as strong as we can. WE have to do it. That means we have to start making decisions based on the good of the conference FIRST and ourselves second.

* That means total equal revenue sharing. Texas A&M gets no more that Iowa State. I'm kind of embarrassed we wound up grabbing more than our share on Monday.

* No private networks. Let's work to set up a Big 12 Network instead.

* Everybody signs a 20 year agreement to stay here. Leave before and you owe the conference 60 million.

* We ain't going anywhere. We can't. So let's make this place as bad-ass as we can. BUT, that's going to mean greed and ego get checked at the door. The SEC hates each other on the field but not in the meeting room. Because of the revenue distribution thing, this is the most pissed off, dysfunctional conference in the country. Teaxs and A&M can change that.

no way we should give up the money we would have had in the SEC.

the bottom line is our BOR bit on a non existent TV contract that was too good to be true. at this point, the politicians and everyone involved needs to accept the inevitable landscape changes that coming down the pipe for college football.

we had that money on the table and agreed on this bull**** deal to equate to what would have been. there's no reason for us to back down and let iowa state, kansas state force fuck us.

Our BOR did not bite. There were external things happening. Loftin and the BOR are taking the heat for our Aggie governor and other elected officials right now.

Perry is trying to escape culpability here. The guy in AO, AustinAg, is even trying to deny Perry was involved. I've heard from multiple sources that he was.

I think too, that there may have been concerns about the SEC that if our people mentioned publicly might have hurt any shot we'd have of going there. No one wants to be Mizzou-ed.

my family is pretty big contributors to the perry campaign. in the case of politics, breaking up the texas teams would've started a political firestorm, in the worst way. i don't know perry's involvement yet, and i wanna get down to the bottom of it. i'm so fucking mad about the SEC.

but, in perry's defense, i DO NOT want that liberal commie, white, running this state. texas has been the only big state to survive the shitstorm recession, and i tend to be in the mindframe of if it ain't broke don't fix it when it comes to politics. but i am still curious as to know his total involvement. when i get back from dc and nyc, i may be heading to a fundraiser for him. i may have to ask him a question or two.

Take him for a drive. Five minutes in the car with you....he'll talk. He'll confess to everything from fucking up the SEC deal to the Kennedy assassination.

There was political pressure put on us is my understanding. From Perry, from other state officials. In other words, we were set to go to the SEC, but we were threatened from a few different directions. You can debate all day about whether we should've done it anyway, but we didn't

I'm getting over it.

The super conferences are coming, this was delayed one last time by the huge contract that the SEC just did, but they are still coming, and it will be Anal Spelunker than in 10 years.

Andy Katz has already said that the Big 12 lite will be the best basketball conference in the country to start the year next year, it wasn't long ago that Texas, OU, OSU and Tech were all in the Top 10 in football at the same time.

Baseball won't be effected at all.

This isn't the ideal situation, but I am not going to be pissed about it any more...let's just play the games and keep those bad ass roadies to Ames and Manhattan a comin'.

basketball could be worse if everyone gets beat up. I don't think we get 7 in next year.

I don't see how we can ever leave.

It seems like the same political clout Baylor and Tech had in 1993 is just as strong (maybe stronger) in 2010. How does it get weaker in a few years? If anything, after getting a taste of 12-15 million a year in their athletic coffers, Tech and Baylor will fight even harder next time.

Tech and Baylor know this; the next round of conference re-alignments will likely be the last because they will be the ones to form the super conferences. Get left out of that one and you're minor league forever.

What that means is that neither Texas nor Texas A&M can leave with without them. The PAC and SEC might take Tech if that means they get A&M or Texas . I honestly don't know about the Big 10.

But no one wants Baylor. And the whimpering from Baylor alone was enough to help derail this last deal.

I think the only way there is any kind of change is if there is some sort or total merger between the PAC and the Big 12 or the SEC and the Big 12. And I can think of several reasons off the top of my head how neither of those scenarios would work.

And God forbid UH or TCU get in this conference. That's two more schools pulling us back in if we try to crawl out of this crab pot.

I think we're stuck.

That's the only way I think we could pull it off. Texas and A&M standing shoulder to shoulder vs the political pressure. Texas is probably going to have to resign themselves to us going SEC though. Not sure there's enough trust between the two right now for it to work.
