I have hated Dan Beebe since his first day on the job. He has been worthless.

This whole thing has basically come about because the Big XII has a worse TV deal than the Dallas YMCA bowling league. Beebe is just trying to save his ass now that he's been backed into a corner.

I really think at this point both A&M and Texas face damn near insurmountable issues right now.

* We think we can go where we want. We can't. The combination of politics, money, tv issues and various emotional issues make it impossible for us to leave. If either of us try to leave it ignites a shitstorm that gets felt all over the country. It's not like we're Boise State moving to the MW.

* I think we have to resign ourselves to staying in the Big 12. Both of us. To that end we should work to make this conference as strong as we can. WE have to do it. That means we have to start making decisions based on the good of the conference FIRST and ourselves second.

* That means total equal revenue sharing. Texas A&M gets no more that Iowa State. I'm kind of embarrassed we wound up grabbing more than our share on Monday.

* No private networks. Let's work to set up a Big 12 Network instead.

* Everybody signs a 20 year agreement to stay here. Leave before and you owe the conference 60 million.

* We ain't going anywhere. We can't. So let's make this place as bad-ass as we can. BUT, that's going to mean greed and ego get checked at the door. The SEC hates each other on the field but not in the meeting room. Because of the revenue distribution thing, this is the most pissed off, dysfunctional conference in the country. Teaxs and A&M can change that.

The super conferences are coming, this was delayed one last time by the huge contract that the SEC just did, but they are still coming, and it will be Anal Spelunker than in 10 years.

Andy Katz has already said that the Big 12 lite will be the best basketball conference in the country to start the year next year, it wasn't long ago that Texas, OU, OSU and Tech were all in the Top 10 in football at the same time.

Baseball won't be effected at all.

This isn't the ideal situation, but I am not going to be pissed about it any more...let's just play the games and keep those bad ass roadies to Ames and Manhattan a comin'.

I don't see how we can ever leave.

It seems like the same political clout Baylor and Tech had in 1993 is just as strong (maybe stronger) in 2010. How does it get weaker in a few years? If anything, after getting a taste of 12-15 million a year in their athletic coffers, Tech and Baylor will fight even harder next time.

Tech and Baylor know this; the next round of conference re-alignments will likely be the last because they will be the ones to form the super conferences. Get left out of that one and you're minor league forever.

What that means is that neither Texas nor Texas A&M can leave with without them. The PAC and SEC might take Tech if that means they get A&M or Texas . I honestly don't know about the Big 10.

But no one wants Baylor. And the whimpering from Baylor alone was enough to help derail this last deal.

I think the only way there is any kind of change is if there is some sort or total merger between the PAC and the Big 12 or the SEC and the Big 12. And I can think of several reasons off the top of my head how neither of those scenarios would work.

And God forbid UH or TCU get in this conference. That's two more schools pulling us back in if we try to crawl out of this crab pot.

That's the only way I think we could pull it off. Texas and A&M standing shoulder to shoulder vs the political pressure. Texas is probably going to have to resign themselves to us going SEC though. Not sure there's enough trust between the two right now for it to work.
