The Fobbs thing is understandable to a point; we're fishing in LSU's waters and sometimes that happens. Plus he's a WR and we're strong there.

IMHO, the Nelson de-commit is almost entirely a self-inflected wound. When you shit the bed every fuckin time you play on tv it makes it easier for a rival recruiter to feed the impression that your program isn't big time . Probably didn't help that for some inexplicable reason we haven't yet hired a linebacker coach; there's probably no coach a player is closer to than his position coach.

I've gotten to the point that the guys who flip at the last moment(barring a coaching change like USC or Tenn. early commits) and teh guys who make a big show about which school they choose(multiple hats, boxes inside of bags inside of boxes, effing duck calls, etc.) generally aren't worth it.

As glad as I was to land Hicks and Jeffcoat I was really glad that they took the time to make the decision if they weren't sure early on instead of flipping to us or away from us at the last minute. And I was really happy with the way they made the announcement. Respected the schools they didn't choose, no theatrics. Just here is my choice, and a short statement about why. You almost got the feeling they wouldn't have even had a press conference if they didn't have 60 media outlets asking everyday.

In my opinion your better off in the long run not getting the guys that flip flop or create more a circus for themselves.

we also received all kinds of ridicule when Perriloux dropped us and we were "stuck" with McCoy. Turns out we were much better off with the guy who was less talented but had better character and wanted to play for us. Guys who are all about the media circus, and who can't keep a commitment(or at least handle changing their minds in a way that shows some respect) are more trouble than they are worth on average.

Just like TO. Talentwise he is much better than any receiver playing for Dallas. But it was always about him. And the Cowboys were better as a team without him.

But he did dick our coaches around, and he was an asshole about not picking Texas. I don't see any need for that, and think that generally those kids don't pan out. I realize Martellus did, but we don't find him nearly as cute as y'all do.
