Any thoughts?

OU's defense has been pretty good except for short passes over the middle. If Texas drags Shipley across the middle, the Horns could do well.

Also, I predict a lot of dink and dunk from OU for the first half. Lots of runs and short passes...just to keep Bradford upright. Then it all depends on OU actually catching the ball.

As for Texas...do we get UTEP-Texas or CU-Texas?

dude, that's when they are the best.!

Anyway

Much lower scoring.

You all have no reason to respect our run game.

I do think we have not been rolling Colt out this year like last year for a reason.

I hope this is the reason.

Him making a throw out of the pocket, or taking off and leading us in rushing was very successful last year and I am not sure why we have moved away from it.

The shot gun formation with Cody Johnson standing next to Colt is a disaster.

Your DL will annihilate our OL...especially the left side.

I think our special teams will make a difference again. (Shipley or Monroe)

I think you will see more of Monroe in the back field trying to get to the edge

We need to abandon the rugby punt and the "wild horn" formation...like..yesterday.

31-17 with three offensive touchdowns for Texas.

UT hasn't looked good in a game yet. OU has been hit or miss. It isn't shaping up to the slugfest it was supposed to be.

One thing that plays into OU's hands is pressure. OU has very little to play for in terms of season goals. Texas is still playing for all the marbles. I think that will make late game play calling interesting. Greg Davis could go more conservative than usual if it's a tight game.

Pretty hard to argue with that.

If we show the 17 yard pass parrallel to the line of scrimage with a slot receiver missing a block, followed by two run plays right into the gut..everyone should then understand that Mack hopes that our defense will score and our special teams will change field position and win with a field goal.

Davis can go ahead and try and beat the traffic at that point.

What I am not seeing from anyone who has commented is the play of UT's defense and how that will be a factor in the game. I don't really care the quality of offensive opponent they have played, in the last two weeks they have held 2 teams TOTAL to under 200 fuck off of offense. I don't care who they played that is pretty fucking good. Hell even last year those teams racked up more fuck off, considerably more yard. With the deficiency at the OL for OU, they will have to fight for fuck off and points. On the offensive side for Texas who knows what we will see, but I can guarantee it will be a steady dose of Jordan Shipley and Colt rolling out of the pocket.

OU is third in the nation in scoring defense & 15 yds behind Texas in average yards given up. OU also went two straight games (including Tulsa) without surrendering a point. Another factor, Texas has Greg Davis. If he's the GD we've seen so far this year, the score of the game might be 2-2 and they go into a shootout after time expires.

I am not suggesting OU doesn't have a good D, but this is the first time in a few years where Texas has a very good D. Sure the score may be 2-2, but the continual blasting of Davis by fans and rivals is laughable. Does he SOMETIMES have shortcomings, sure, no one is arguing that, however he has been consistent at producing high powered offenses. Much of the blame on this offense lies in the OL and it's inability to run block, not Davis's playcalling. Since Davis has been the OC for Texas, they have never been, at least from what I can find, rated below #20 in offense, that pretty remarkable for a guy that supposedly can't coach his way out of a wet paper sack. Last year he was able to put up points against a good OU D last year, something tells me he won't have problems this year as well.

OU's D is much better this year. But I can see your point. I think the knock on GD is that the scheme seemingly doesn't change. And the offense seems to make games close that otherwise shouldn't be.

BTW - against these two defenses, the offensive lines should be called NO Lines. It's going to be a sackfest, run fest or something of that making. I think Colt and Sam with be getting rid of the ball in a hurry on lots of plays.

Totally agree, although I am not as concerned on the sacks as I am the inability to run the ball. It should be a good game.

As with pretty much every Anal Spelunker team, OU is soft in the middle. They are vulnerable to runs and seam routes right up the gut. They are also vulnerable to the deep ball. Basically, if we exploit these areas, we can score lots of points. If we don't, we play to OU's strengths.

I am sick of fucking three yard curl routes.

OU relies on pressure on the QB to cover the weakness on the long ball. If your line can have a really good day, you'll hammer us. If not, you won't have time for those plays to develop.

Same with OU though. If Broyles can play reasonably healthy and OU's line miraculously comes together, Texas could be in for an offensive beat down. Neither of those things will happen though so I see a lot of short passes and moving QB's.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is revenge factor. Texas definitely has plenty of motivation to win. Could certainly give the edge too.

You are right, that is a factor as well. There are several things that haven't been talked about regarding Texas in this game, which is pussling, the focus seems to be the run game and that is certainly a factor, but a negative one.

The interesting thing about the "revenge factor" is that Texas won the damn game last year....their revenge is focused on the polls voting Oklahoma ahead of them.

Yeah, but I can assure you there are a lot of Horns pissed at all the strutting Sooners did as they cruised their way backwards into the Big XII Champ. game.
