Houston -

what are your thoughts on the recruiting that Barnes has done and how do you believe he handles the minutes?

i get hammered on texags all the time for it, but i think barnes does an absolutely great fucking job at almost everything he does.

he's a first class coach in recruiting and handling personnel, imo.

he's good at those but not so great at adjustments or X & O's compared to what he fields. someone like roy williams or self would have won a champ with some of the teams he's had

sounds like he really knows wtf he's talking about. that forum dominates his and XL's lives.

if you think rick barnes isn't a good coach, you're retarded.

lettermen's tailgate for ut with a friend that pointed out on a radio show that i lost a bet and wore said ut shirt as a result. who really gives a ****?

this arkansas game mirrors every other time we've been on the national stage and got our shit pushed in. i love where the program's going, but we have some serious issues on D that could very well be exposed. our o-line still sucks and our special teams has been atrocious for the most part. 16 Tr Fr seeing time in a big time game in arguably the most publicized sporting venue in modern times.....

yeah, how could anyone ever think we could possibly lose this game?

i'd love to have a big time play that got this game some run on the national scene and also give us even more momentum heading into okie lite.

This pick is along the same lines as his 'Tech will win the Big 12' pick from last year. If he picks A&M to lose, and they lose, then emotionally he'll be able to handle it. If he picks them to lose, and they win, well that is even better. If he picks them to win and they lose, then his fragile emotions will be disrupted to the point of mental collapse.

yeah, we dominate when we're on the stage. bowl record? **** stompings at big XII title games. 95 horns loss in the last SWC game.

we have 98 KSU, 98 Neb, 02 OU, and the last 2 wins vs. texas in the last 10 years.

look at our f'n bowl performances. look at us last year vs. miami.

we haven't won a new years day bowl since f'n 1988.

you realize you're contradicting yourself, genius. you're insinuating the only reason i chose tech to win the Big XII is b/c i was trying to "hedge" myself. do you know what "hedge" means?

its also the main reason why the rise of A&M's bball program has been so refreshing. they generally don't come out and lay eggs in big games.

With HT going to a TTU/UT game in Horn gear (rooting against Tech no doubt) and Puddy going to Tech/UH game with his Tech buddies (rooting against Tech no doubt), I guess my trip to CS for Miami/A&M doesn't seem so 'obsessive' anymore.

same here, baller.

i guess the reason i was wearing the ut shirt has flown over everyone's heads. i lost a bet and the guy providing me with tickets and club access as well as free liquor, beer, and tailgating all day called me out. forgot how sensitive some of you are. at the lettermen's tailgate we let everyone know i was an aggie, why i was wearing the shirt, etc...and went back and forth the whole day. it was a fun time a few of them are joining us for the ut game on t-giving.

tech fan, i had free tix, free lodging, free booze and the city of austin. i wouldn't call that obsessive at all and would have gone no matter the opposing team. congrats, though.

t-bird...negativity? honestly, tell me where i'm wrong. and please include our baseball team in this. i've been an ag longer than you and i wouldn't say this on the big site, but if you can honestly say you don't think a&m chokes more than any team in d1, you're lying to yourself.

didn't realize we had to blow smoke up everyone's ass.

save this bullshit for the zoo. for fuck's sake, have some self-dignity. and don't call it hedging. threads like this are only to come back and say "i told you so."

aggies win. fuck you.

ok.

so, back to the minutes part.

Barnes stresses defense to a fault.

In my opinion.

You are someone that seems to follow this closely, and I am wondering how a student of the game looks at what Barnes has to do this year with the offensive players he has brought in and how he allows them all to play and still not have their egos effect their playing time.

Not asking you to kiss RB's ass as an Aggie, just how a fan of another team looks at the situation at Texas.

i really like barnes too. you cant seem to post it on the aggie sites, but barnes is one of the top 5 recruiters in the nation. i think a lot of people view him as a bad coach because bill simmons trashed the way he handled KD during his one year stay. he is certainly loaded up enough on talent to make another final 4 or natl championship run here in the next few years. his pressers after the game are usually really good as well.

and ht, as for language expert, he isnt a new "expert." hes the same "expert" thats been around for awhile, the light bulb just hasnt lit up for you yet on who he is.

i'm really not a student of the game and honestly, i don't know jack shit compared to many of my friends. in the context of texags bball board, though, its just sad.

i just find it hard to question barnes. his results speak for themselves. his teams are well coached on the D end and imo, he handles personnel very well. he gets it done on the offensive end, but like anyone, his teams struggle from time to time.

on the ark game, i just find it funny you can actually give reasons as to why you think a&m will lose and still "hedge." if that was the case, wouldn't someone predict a&m to lose every game?
