NL Cy Young.

33 of 34 in that park.

Won't happen, but it should.

only 13 of those are "in that park."

And his ERA is over 3.

He's good, but he ain't Cy Young good. The only closer ever good enough to do that was Eck.

I don't even know that Huston was the best pitcher off that UT staff currently in the pros, much less Cy Young material.

Hoffman has been good enough in the past to win but never did.

Closers don't win that award and probably shouldn't.

"Only thirteen" is slightly less than half....and that place is a graveyard for pitchers with the size of that outfield.

That trade worked out for both teams and I can't think of a pitcher in the NL more dominating right now on any field.

That includes Carpenter.

I have no hate for Huston. I know his dad through some structured settlements we've set up over the years. My brother in law used to play against him...westlake v bowie.

But he is NOT anywhere close to the most dominant NL pitcher right now.

Carpenter, Cain, Lincecum, Wainwright, Haren...the list goes on and on. If they were going to give it to a closer this year, it would go to Ryan Franklin who has more saves than Street and whose ERA is a full 2 runs less than Street's at 1.07. His WHIP, BAA and homeruns rendered are all less than Street's as well.

Of the NL pitchers who have registered at least 10 saves this season, there are currently 10, count'em 10, "closers" in the NL with a better ERA than Street's.

Take off the goggles.

and there are no goggles here.

the first line of my post said that he won't win it.

there is no pitcher in the NL more dominant since that trade and he is the main reason the Rockies went from dead to in the pennant/wild card race.

a pitcher - in Colorado - is making that difference.

I am glad you harbor no animus toward he and his dad, his Dad is a good man to do business with - not a very good golfer.

Or Jim Tracy being named manager and Street losing his closing job to Corpas at the beginning of the season, only to have to win it back.

When you say "since that trade," you're talking about all year since he was traded in the offseason. He was TERRIBLE early in the year. He's been BAD lately.

6 ER in his last 8 appearances spanning 7 1/3 inning.

What about Franklin? He's been dominant ALL YEAR.

You said he should win the Cy Young. Backing off that now?

and again, he's a good pitcher, but he's no Cy Young candidate, nor should he be.

not backing off.

He apparently had a bad outing I missed.

He was dealing stronger than anyone in the league...I don't think there is a clear cut winner in the NL and he is/was pitching better than anyone.

He won't win it...I said that to begin with.

Bad outing? The guy got yanked as the closer in April. Then Corpas, his replacement, sucked worse so they had to reinstate him.

There are at least 2 DOZEN NL pitchers that would finish ahead of Street in CY voting, based on merit.

What sort of fucking drugs are you on?

In the heat of a wildcard race, knowing the Braves lost, Street just blew a three run lead in the ninth.

Still won the game so all is forgiven. I suppose everyone blows a save once in a while. But did he have to give up a three run blast to a guy who had hit one other homer this year?

Once again he blows a two run lead. Only this time it ends the Rockies season. How do you walk the tying run on board knowing Ryan Howard is on deck?

I don't remember this thread at all.

How much of my life has gone by without an recollection of it from me?
