Background:
I have an '08 Ford F-150 Supercrew. It has the factory stereo (which I plan on keeping) and speakers. So far, I think I've decided to go with a 4 channel amp. Now I'm not sure which speakers to go with.
Whatever I decide to get, I'd like to get through Best Buy as I have $300 in gift cards to use there.
Here's what I've found for some speakers I'm considering. Yea or nay? And since my truck is four door, do I need to get two pair of these speakers? Or do I get different sizes for the front and back?

Everybody says to check Crutchfield, which I have been to determine which speakers will fit in my truck. And then using that to see if they stock those speakers at Best Buy. I'm not planning on spending a lot of money on this. I figured around $150 for an amp, and hopefully just a couple hundred on speakers (if that's possible).
Advice? What do you think of the speakers I linked?

and i had someone on texags tell me i should look at component speakers. obviously, those are more expensive to install. is the quality really THAT much better with component speakers? and is there actually a very noticeable difference if i add an amp to the speakers, even without a subwoofer? i don't want to spend money on an amp unless i'm going to be able to tell the difference.
i just don't even know where to begin, and i don't want to just walk up to the guy at Best Buy for fear they'll try to sell me all this stuff i don't need.
What's good for a speaker....300W? 280W? Is Infinity one of the best brands I'll probably find for a reasonable price? Is it better than Pioneer?

Depends on what youre looking for. It sounds like you just want something that sounds about like, or a little better than, the factory system with the addition of a sub. If thats the case, just replace the bullshit factory speakers with something you deem acceptable.
Again, components will sound better than what you have now, and will generally sound better than an aftermarket non-component set, because the crossovers used are of higher quality, and the speakers used are assigned specific functions....rather than a 2 or 3 ways to 'do it all'. This is for a more 'serious' type set up, i dont think you're looking for that.
Adding an amp to the door/kick panel speakers will sound better, assuming some basic facts about the amp/speakers, but again, this is something i dont think you are looking for. This is for someone wanting a more serious set up than your typical joe truck owner who wants some thump.
You're going to need an amp to power a sub. How big will depend on what sub youre putting in.

Begin with deciding if its worth it to replace all your "factory location" speakers.
Then find a box that fits what your looking for (under the rear seat is a typical location for f-150's).
Find a sub to put in the box.
Find an amp that will adequately power the sub.
Install (or pay someone to) the amp and hook up the sub.

First, you need 4 speakers. All 6x8s. Ignore the component speaker idea. While nice it is probably overkill for what you want. I can install those for you in an afternoon. We can see how they sound and then go from there. I personally think that they will be way underpowered with your typically factory radio. To get more juice to them you have two options, new head unit or an amp.
If you just wanna add some bass, you could take yoshi's amp, and about 150 dollars worth of shit from ebay and add a little thump.

bandpass box with some 12's and it's thump thump time. replace your factory speakers. probably 4x6 in the front and 6x9 in the back with some 3" tweets. that's the usual setup in a ford

scot & i have ridden in agent's denali before, and it sounds awesome. rich, clear bass. and i don't think it has an actual subwoofer.
so, to get that same sound (aside from buying super expensive bose speakers or something), what would I need? an amp & new speakers? or an amp and subwoofer?

Way better. That factory stereo is pushing crap speakers with not enough power. See if Best buy can get you some 5x7 Alpine S series speakers

robbed some 4 yr old of his polo and put extra starch on the collar before making that post

he clearly also ripped a sleeve, a hole in the middle torso area, paired it with some black jeans with holes in the knees, and then accidently stuck the syringe up his saran wrapped crevice instead of in his butt cheek

i'm not even sure i'm going to go with a sub at first. i might just go with the amp and some nice speakers. and then later if i decide i want a sub i'll go that route.
but i do appreciate the offer. i'll keep it in mind.

id hold off on subs too until you hear your new speakers. that amp isnt that powerful and will just give you a lil thump anyway. if it was badass i would have ebayed that shit and raked on it already. its at best a mid range type.
the titan box had jl 8s in it now that i think about it and all the amps were bolted to the back of the seats. prob wont work on a ford.
