Also I'm surprised that most of the tech fans are siding with the AD. Seems to me Leach has done more for Tech than the AD has.

he brought in leach so i'd say he's done just as much...throw in the BK hire and he's solid.

Long term Knight hasn't done shit. No they have to put up with junior taking them nowhere.
Myers hasn't done shit. Outside of football they stink.
Sometime IMO you don't fuck with things. I've started to believe we should not have fired RC.

won't sign deal after tech added a bunch of stuff to it.
Boils down to they want a higher buy out clause, him to inform school before he can talk with somebody else, and some IMO salary issues.
Link to shit
this is suppose to be the letter exchanges between Leach and Tech.

Agree on Myers, disagree on firing RC....we just hired the wrong mother fucker to replace him (maybe twice....jury's out on Sherman).

Choice #2. (and not too far behind #1) Tech hires Briles away from Baylor behind closed doors. Announce it in the same press conference that they fire Leach. (I admittedly don't know much about Briles, but he seemed to do pretty good at Baylor.)

That being said, I don't think Leach is going anywhere. He's got nowhere to go at this time of the year!

I'm no fan of Tech, but Leach doesn't know how good he has it. He should just STFU, sign the deal, continue to win 8-9 games a year, torment the Aggies, bit off a piece of Bevo's ass every three years and the techs will probably name the next freeway after him. I suspect that burning his bridges in Lubbock, taking on a high pressure, high expectation job at a bigger school would be the biggest mistake of his coaching life.
If I'm tech I call his bluff.

I don't want Leach there if he doesn't want to be there. If he is going to sign a deal, whatever it may be, then rack up 40,000 frequent flyer miles every offseason hunting for new jobs, then it is time to go.
Also, if they were to hire Briles and announce him, I'd like them to announce him as HC before they announced Leach's firing. I'd like to see something like this happen
Meyers: "We're pleased to announce Art Briles as the new HC at TTU."
-A brief statement from Briles.-
Meyers: "Mike Leach will be unemployed this season. Mike, you have 10 minutes to clean all your pirate shit out of Art's office before it is given to your 6 remaining loyal fans."

Raiders should suck his dick to keep him there.

Just to go through this every offseason? I don't like the fact that he whores himself out all of the time.
Couldn't they structure his contract to where he gets a massive lump sum at the end of the fifth year? I think the current offer is 12.7MM over 5 years. What if they were to give him 1.25MM guaranteed money each year, then if he completes his 5th year then give him a 12.7MM-(5*1.25MM) bonus at the end of the MNC season? Seems like that might give him incentive to stick around.

This would be hilarious. I vote for this scenario. Could an AD give his coach a bigger swift kick in the balls?
Do you guys think Briles will automatically jump ship? What makes him so good anyway? Leach didnt just win games for you, he gave you an identity. Can Briles give you that?

This is exactly what Bum Bright did to Tom Wilson back in the day. Bright started shopping Wilson's job to Bo Schembechler, Jimmy Johnson and Jackie Sherrill without firing Wilson first. There was even a story that when Bright sold the Cowboys to Jerry Jones, he offered to fire Tom Landry himself to spare Jones from being known as "the sumbitch who fired Tom Landry". Bright was the very definition of "I don't give a fuck"

BTW, here's Leach at The White House back in mid December. He's still got that Raider spirit. I think he stays for a long time.

I wish Bum Bright was still with us if for no other reason than we need a rich Ag who won't accept this mediocrity-to-suck in football. He's the kind of guy who would be in Byrne's ear telling him to cut bait with Fran after '05. The kind of guy who would've gotten us Butch Davis.
