*I couldn't help but wish Tex Schramm was still around to organize that thing, he knew how to pull off a ceremony like that with class.
*Nice 60 cycle hum from the sound system; who was in charge of that, the AV kids from Birdville ISD? Pathetic.
*Was it really necessary to spare us to death by introducing people like Glen Titensor, Guy Brown and Howard Richards? I really don't need to be reminded that Jeff Roher once soiled a Cowboys uniform. For a minute there I thought the whole ceremony was going to turn into a celebration of busted Gil Brandt draft picks (was Danny Noonan busy?). Bring out the players by decade en masse and only introduce notables like the Ring of Honor members and guys who were great but aren't in the Ring, like Drew Pearson.
*I couldn't tell from the horrible TV coverage but was Clint Murchison's name even mentioned? I hope so, he was only the guy who built the place.
*I love Brad Sham, but he was completely over the top last night. I thought the Von Erichs were gonna come running onto the field at any moment.
*Tom Landry's son going onto the field with his Dad's hat was a goose bump moment; when he put it on he looked just like him. He could have made the moment perfect by walking over and cutting Thomas Henderson again.
*So Jerry, you couldn't resist using "My Heroes have Always been Cowboys", could you? That was one of two moments that had me fumbling for the mute button. The other one was.......
*Whoever made the decision to hand a microphone to Emmitt Smith last night should pay with his life. The Yankees at least had the good sense to keep Yogi Berra away from mics during the Yankee Stadium closing ceremony a few months ago.
*And who decided that Emmitt's run that set the all time rushing record was the greatest Texas Stadium moment? A great moment to be sure, but the greatest ever? Better than Drew Pearson's 73 yard td that won a playoff game with the Rams in 1973? Or Staubach to Hill to beat the Skins and win the East in 1979? Or even Emmitt's td in the 1995 NFC title game that sent the Cowboys to Super Bowl XXX? What about the idjit in the stands who accidentally set himself on fire in the 70s?
*And who made the decision to have some nameless old guy throw the switch to shut off the lights? That guy looked like he was dropping the hammer on some poor bastard strapped to Old Sparky at Huntsville back in the day. Why not have a ceremonial switch at midfield and have someone notable do it? Like Landry's son, Bob Hayes' widow or a member of the Murchison family?
*Oh yeah, and fire Wade.
