getting smaller and smaller, that is for sure - specially the trophy racks.
Mule deer are an entirely different deal and am not sure which type is indigenous to Ohio.

not usually. the deer around here are pretty scrawny.
speaking of strange breeds to find in texas....my dad shot a sika down in bandera one time. now THAT is an awesome looking deer.

ohio deer. they have a couple different types from what i can tell. white tail is one but based on a google image search for Ohio deer, it looks like more than one type. got white tail here in nc too

Thinning out the deer is as important as protecting them - for disease and nourishment reasons.
Obviously, everyone wants that one 200 Boone and Crockett buck of a life time that they pay all of that money on a deer lease to a guy like me for - and won't wait long enough for it to mature into something special, so, all of the really trophy type deer are found in more and more remote areas - if they are around at all.
