pretty funny shit.

it reminds me of "walk off" in baseball....before 10 years ago, i NEVER once heard that term and i followed baseball pretty fucking avidly and hung around quite a few people in the game and never once heard that term...not that there's anything wrong w/ it but once they broke it out in sportscenter, it was part of the vernacular forever.

i have to say "pure center" is probably the funniest shit i've ever heard. also love the "have you been living under a rock" comment b/c the term "pure PG" is completely fabricated.

im too young to know the nonsportscenter days. i dont claim to be a huge knowledge source on college ball but people over there dont even use common sense when they post. its tough to get meaningful discussion anywhere on TA anymore. it seems the only person able to not just continuously troll anymore is JJxvi, i dont know how that guy has any patience with those people.

mikesyracuse knows his shit and he pretty often expresses just how fucking stupid people over there are.

XL is emotional and odd, even over the top, but he generally knows the game.

jjvi is a solid poster as well.

i really miss the days over there when the board mirrored this one in numbers, posts, and threads (obviously not on content). the bball conversation was pretty good and you didn't have to deal w/ people who just aren't able to concede that they have no idea what the fuck they're talking about.

its like the dipshit on there who's saying antoine "left when we needed him most." i swear to God, its seriously like no matter what you do, if you're a big time player in any sport and go to a&m, you're going to get absolutely fucking crucified if you remotely do ANYTHING wrong. see j lane, reggie, martellus, antoine.

ya mike is ok. dunno bout XL, that guy is just weird sometimes. i was a lurker for awhile before i ever registered over there. marcAg still is one of my favorite straight posters on the boards, it was a shame to see him fall off.

the other thing that pisses me off is the influx of baylor posters over there. they are too pussy to venture over to rivalries but most of the bball posters dont know their shit well enough to talk decent smack to the retard baylor guys that come on there.

the ags that just hate barnes because he is the coach at texas piss me off too. you can hate your rival but respect a coach for how he runs a program and recruits. two very different things. i know a lot of ags respect leach a lot for what he has done at tech. same thing. barnes is a SICK recruiter and a pretty funny guy to listen to in pressers and such. i think hes a good guy for the game. hate seeing him at our rival school but nevertheless a great guy for the game.

too many issues with that shitty board though to discuss though.

this has actually been one of my fav things. i wish one of you w/ stars would do a montage w/ the old "scott drew >>>> bcg" threads from back in the day w/ BU fans were talking about the impending doom we'd be facing.

pure point guard has been used for a long time in basketball. when someone is considered a pure point guard it usually means traditional point guard as in pass first and they aren't a main scorer. the scoring point guards that pretty much are the man on their team are mainly considered like a combo guard. this definition is from vitale, packer and most of the other analysts.

pure centers and forwards must be texags cause i've never heard of them. throwback centers are guys like oden who play it like the old school centers did - strictly post and shot blockers who don't go outside and shoot 3's or take you off the dribble

pure PG - uh, no.

there's a handful of ways to play that positon and play it perfectly. there's nothing "pure" about being a great PG.

what PG isn't a "pure" PG? you can be a combo, a shooting, or a point. a "pure" PG? lol...was kenny anderson a "pure" PG? marbury? price?

you either play the position well or you don't. there's no "right" or "wrong" way to play it. can you only be a "pure PG" in some sets?

makes absolutely no sense, simliar to "pure center."

you're a pure shooter, that's what you do and its the BEST part of your game. never once in my life have i heard "pure PG." pass first? yes. combo? yes. penetrating? yes. "pure" icon17.gif

i think bryan davis is a "pure forward."

hell, we can do this w/ every position. antoine was a "pure wing."

you haven't watched much basketball then cause that term has been around for years. king rice was considered (no shit icon17.gif )a pure point guard when he was coming out of high school. and yes, marbury and anderson were considered that along with ed cota and raymond felton. i have no idea where the fuck it came from but it's been used for more than a decade on TV by vitale

and what was "pure" about marbury's game at coney island or tech?

he was a penetrating guy who could outleap you.

so does that mean stockton wasn't a "pure PG"? their games are COMPLETELY different.

how can one be a "pure PG" and the other not?

makes absolutely no sense, but i did just start watching bball in 04-05 for the big NIT season.

hopefully we'll get a "pure center" and a couple "pure combo guards" in this next class.

so john stockton and stephon marbury are both "pure" PGs?

sounds like a airtight description.
