that tv thread you started in AO. what other networks cover big 12 games each week? we get a noon ACC game on jp/raycom, 3:30 abc, and espn (usually thursday). sometimes 1 more game on sat but you're guaranteed 2 games on sat. raycom sucks ass. once they showed winless duke-wake forest instead of a top 5 battle between miami-fsu and got fucking crucified for it. fsu game was a fucking classic too. big ten and sec get the most airplay out here. all the noon games are pretty much big ten on the espns and the sec games are 3:30 and the primetime slots on the espns. the ACC matchups usually suck ass - especially the noon game. pac 10 is late night on fsn or whatever the fox sports channel is we get on direct. usually sucks ass too and i hate fox's coverage anyways.
Never argue with a moron. They will bring you down to their level and beat your ass with their experience.

I can't believe Raycom is still around. Thought they went out with HSE.

Well, it's gotten better....we're still on shitty networks, but let's see if I can summarize (and these networks don't have games every week):

FSN has an 11:30 regional game
Versus SOMETIMES has an 11:30 national game
ABC has a 2:30 regional game most times
FSN or ESPN has a night game

That's four games most weeks. Now sometimes ABC has a 7 PM game as well as a 2:30 Big XII game.

Doesn't sound terrible, but consider:

1) All four other major conferences (Big 10, Pac 10, ACC, SEC) has MUCH better coverage percentage wise
2) The quality of the broadcasts on FSN and Versus absolutely suck.
3) The FSN broadcasts are repeatedly pre-empted in different parts of the country by hockey, hoops, and other sports.
4) The big game of the week is generally on ABC at 2:30 (except for the couple of times a year we get the 7PM game).....and this 2:30 game is a regional game only.

The last one there is the biggest glaring weakness in my opinion.

I have always maintained that I would never send the Big 12 commissioner in to purchase an automobile for me as he got ass fucked when he signed this TV deal and his successors have been ass raped and then ass fucked as the try to 'improve upon' it.

Absolutely the worst in the country and no end is in sight with ESPN laying out all of that jack to the SEC - after CBS already is in bed with the SEC.

I had small hopes for TBS getting on board, they had the best broadcast (picture wise), but they gave up.

i think we only end up with 3 at the most unless there's a big prime time matchup

Yeah, the Big XII is kind of fucked now, as Notre Dame, the Big 10, SEC, and ACC have all beaten them to the punch as far as securing all the good timeslots on ESPN/ABC/CBS/NBC. The only hope is to get someone like the FOX network involved in broadcasting football every weekend instead of just doing the BCS, or getting NBC to add on a second package to the Notre Dame thing (don't see that happening).

The Big 12 could just split the games up:

Texas A&M -- The Military Channel
Texas - LOGO
Baylor - Trinity Broadcast Network
Tech - Crime and Investigation Network
Nebraska - RFD Tv
Colorado - VH1
Oklahoma - Court TV

let's switch this to basketball. the acc and big east dominate out here with a lot of big ten mixed in as well. not much SEC other than marquee games and pretty much the same for the big 12. once conference play starts, every ACC game is pretty much televised. florida st and miami are the only ones not shown much here unless it's against a local team. we end up knowing about as much about them as you guys do. very little talk about them here. of course they aren't considered ACC schools here since they are so far out of the way. same with football

I actually think our basketball package ain't that bad. We have pretty much every conference game televised this year. There are several on the ESPN Plus syndicated package, but despite the crappy ass broadcast quality on that (no HD), the announcers on that shit and on FSN (Greg Lucas and Jim Haller) are top notch. Fucking Haller got me my loan on my house here in West. Great mother fucker. Imagine the coaching Baylor had when he was hoops coach and Teaff was football coach. No wonder they were somewhat respected in the 80s.
