Good gawd, what a shit hole that town is. A gang bangers paradise. Only saving grace is decent Mexican food and the Old Town area. The stadium was shitty, the fans were fucking thugs for the most part. Didn't even seem like a college atmosphere. Quite disappointing.

I go to New Messico quite a bit for vacations. Never spent much time in Albq. Always struck me as an Amarillo with mountains. I like Santa Fe but the traffic is bad. I probably enjoy Taos the most; a smaller Santa Fe and not so crowded. Santa Fe has a lot of moneyed types walking around, lots of richies from Texas and Cali. If you want to know where all the old hippies from the 60s went to die, go to Taos. Fuckers are everywhere. This last week I made it a point to take books from Bernard Goldberg and William Buckley to read and tried to listen to Rush just so I didn't drown in that liberal shit.

When I go there I stay in Angel Fire, and it's fascinating how different the people are there than Taos. Angel Fire has mostly retired and semi retired types from Texas and Oklahoma. Not a hip-eye in the bunch.

Oh yeah, and the shittiest part was we went to a fucking bar in downtown on Friday....it was a Logan's knockoff. There were five of us, and we had been to dinner before and had maybe two beers a piece at dinner. We hadn't been there five minutes and the bouncers were harassing one of my buddies telling him he was drunk....took him outside and then let him back in finally. Happened a couple more times until they finally kicked us out. Really, really weird considering there were MANY bars we have deserved to get kicked out of over the years, and we get eighty-sixed from one when we WEREN'T drunk. Pretty damn sure they were targeting us because they knew we were from out of state. The bastards TOOK A PICTURE of everyone's ID as you were going in. Just really bizarre.

Go to the Barley Room next time you have to go, ask for the owner, she is my little sister, and she LOVES to have Texas in her bar because she is stuck in that hell hole.

I don't plan on going back any time soon.

In the same vein though, yesterday we went to a place near campus called Coaches' Sports Bar to catch the first half of the early NFL games since our flight wasn't until mid afternoon. That was by far the best place we went. Very nice place, hot waitresses. Ended up chatting with the owner, who was a Texan as well.
