I finally got around to trying the second generation chick-fil-a chicken strip (i've been meaning to try it for over a week now). This strip carries on the standard of quality of the strip it replaced. As far as I could tell, it seems like the breading (flavor, size, and texture) has remained the same, which is a good thing. The reason for changing the strip is that Chick-fil-a wanted it larger; this generation strip is 50% larger (on a per strip basis). Obviously they give you less strips (instead of 4, 3 come standard; and instead of upping it to 6, you can up it to 4), but, and a total ounce basis, the standard three are larger than the prior standard of four. That being said, I was a very big fan of their first generation chicken strip. I can still remember eagerly anticipating its debut several years ago now. Everytime I went to chick-fil-a I rotated between two options; a four pack of strips and a chicken sando (no pickle) or an eight pack of nuggets and a chicken sando (no pickle). My issue with this strip stems from it's meat to breading ratio. I may have harped on my preference for a low meat to bread ratio in the past (usually in a burger context), and I believe it’s even more important in a chicken strip, as the crux of the flavor is found in the breading. This second generation strip keeps a meat to breading ratio on the low end, but it’s significantly higher than the previous strip, which I believe nailed it. All in all, it’s a good strip worth trying, but it is a downgrade from its predecessor. I suggest going with the nuggets or a chick-fil-a chicken sando.

On labor day chick-fil-a is giving out a three pack of the new strip for wearing football attire or logo.

I prefer getting down to the raw elements of a particular product. You probably bring your pocket size A-1 into Vic and Anthony's, don't you?
I refuse to let a pickle taint the quality of chick-fil-a's flagship offering.

You sound like the type of guy that seasons his food before he tastes it. Or asks them to leave off the capers because you don't like the way they taste. The fine chefs of chikfila designed the sandwich that way for a reason.

Not at all. They allow you to remove the pickle.

I love the sandwich(with or without pickle) and their nuggets.
