i'm going to be purchasing these mexico vs. belize tix for june 15 (a sunday so you're going to need to go ahead and take monday morning off if you come).

just trying to confirm the number of tix to be purchased.

i believe also that we are trying to make this an event with no women in attendance if that aids in your decision making process.....for their safety, of course.

actually you can see the game really well. the view from up there is great if you don't mind being pelted with trash for 2 hours.

i used to think that until i watched a world cup and started following the US team and now, the dynamo. after going to the mexico US game this last feb, i'm pretty sure my destiny is go to a world cup and die in the streets for reppin' the US on foreign soil.

once you get used to the nuances and what not, which i only got from folling the US team out of national pride, its pretty enjoyable to watch and the guys are pretty incredible athletes.

the people watching and just happenings in general at these games are untouchable. i'd pay the price of admission just to sit in the concourse and watch the people, riot police walk around.

no agent, i definitely agree with your argument.

i think hockey's a cool sport that obviously takes tremendous coordination, but for whatever reason, i just have no team to root for so i can't get that into it.

i just think the whole "they're not athletes" thing about soccer is fucking ridiculous.

i think the two, and their struggle to gain a following in the US, are very comparable.

on a side note, there's nothing fucking better than beating the world at their own game when probably 5% of your popluation even gives a fuck about that respective sport. see US over mexico in 02 world cup for evidence. people were literally crying in the streets in mexico.

I was in Costa Rica for that game. As soon as I stepped off a bus in Monteverde, I hear some Tico yell 'Beat the fucking tacos!' Went to the bar later that night to watch the game and EVERYONE there was rooting for the US. It was an ugly game to watch but fun as shit at the same time.

I went to a game in Morelia, Mexico in November. We went in to the general admission area and grabbed a seat. A fan in front of us turned around and told me that they stand the whole game and it gets kinda loud. I laughed and told her we were used to that.

I sat there drinking my 48 oz cup of sol beer, rimmed with lime, chile, and salt, that cost me 3 dollars, screaming profanities in spanish (everyone yells puto anytime the other team has a goal kick) and having an all around bad ass time. They even had yell leaders that stood on elevated platforms that kept the fans screaming the whole game. If you enjoy the environment of an A&M football game you can't help but appreciate the crazy soccer fans and the atmosphere they create.

Only shitty part was you couldn't bring a camera because people would take the batteries out and throw them at the opposing team during corner kicks. They had to make due with half full cups of beer instead.

yeah, at that mexico v. US game, we pretty much went out of way to start shit with everyone. at one point on their 2nd goal, we pretty much had probably around 1,000 people screaming shit, a couple throwing shit, at us. US scores, i'd run up and the aisles pouring beer on myself, pointing flicking off mexico sections. we ended up in a shoving match outside the stadium with a few people, but nothing serious.

you really can't beat the atmosphere. its absolute money. i'd kill to go see that shit you saw in morelia.

surf, even though i have you telling me that, i have no clue why and unless i have money on either side, i have no vested interest. why do you root for those teams? grew up in those areas?

The game in Morelia was awesome. The fans were nuts but never did it feel unsafe. It was cheap as dirt.
The town itself is a pretty cool place to check out as is guadalajara. Very different mexico than what you see in cancun, cabo, puerto vallarta.

ht. been a wings and pens fan as long as i can remember. my uncle used to take me to the igloo in pitt and one of my cousins was a huge wings fan. i grew up playing hockey and i'm from the midwest - hockey is pretty big there. i hear they got a rink in this place called hillsboro which isn't that far from me. might have to check it out one day and see if they got a rec league. funniest thing to me is i can (could) ice skate but i can't roller skate to save my fucking life. i think i tried like maybe 3 or 4 times as a teen and said fuck this shit

Everyone south of the border that isn't a Mexican hates Mexicans. Ticos seem to hate them just a little bit more though. Probably from all the gringos asking them if they only speak mexican

puddy, tix go up to $75 and start @ $35 so probably something in b/w.

its well worth it. yeah, P is down and right now, its just the 3 of us. i just want anyone who isn't down to it big to bring everyone down.

we'll probably just meet downtown around noon and take the train down to get there a half hour early and people watch.

i'll bring a jersey for you if necessary.

at this point, i just don't know too many people who are willing to go old school like sherwoodian.

Sounds like a damn good time. I'll admit that I'm pretty clueless about soccer though, so I don't know if it would bring you guys down or not. Prolly just would be there to get hammered and look at people anyways.
