Right click, set as background, then set your background to "tile". ywia.

that works to an extent but if the image is not large enough to cover both screens it starts the next tile.

that didn't end up anything like it was originally planned. fucking around with blends and shit. took about 2 hrs all together including the fucking around and trying new things that didn't work

you should have an option to set each monitor's background
